Pittsburgh Modular Eurorack Synthesizer Modules

Oscillator Modules

Pittsburgh Waveforms Oscillator

A wide range, high quality, complex VCO designed to be the core of a modern, analog synthesizer. The Waveforms module offers a full complement of standard waveforms including sine, triangle, saw, and pulse waves in addition to a sub octave generator and a unique modulatable blade wave.

Filter Modules

Pittsburgh Filter

The Filter is a voltage controlled, analog, state variable filter. The state variable topology was chosen because it allowed us to produce a very smooth and natural sounding filter, in addition to offering several other modes of operation, each with a unique sound and energy all their own.

Pittsburgh LPG

A new take on the lopass gate. Our intention was not to clone but to reengineer and expand on the original idea. Our module includes an amazing new self-oscillating resonance circuit and a quieter vactrol based VCA circuit with true unity gain. All the work we did on the filter and VCA come together with the lopass gate mode. The buttery warmth of the filter teams with the best attributes of the vactrol based VCA to create an impressive take on a classic.

Controller Modules

Pittsburgh Game System

Packed with six unique multi-mode sequencers and a fully voltage controllable user interface, the Game System is deep!  Each game represents a different type of sequencing, from classic step sequencers, to unique multi-dimensional clock dividers, to chaotic gate generators. Individual sequencers in the Game System would make great standalone modules. Bundled together, they offer an entire arcade of sequencing options, with lots of room for creativity.

Pittsburgh Midi 3

Our third generation Midi to CV converter packed with a robust list of features. It includes a complete set of mono and duophonic midi response modes, assignable CC and dedicated velocity outputs, a feature rich clock source with tap tempo, midi and external gate clock dividers, and multiple arpeggiator responses. This module is deep.

Sequencer

A compact, simple 8 step analog sequencer. It uses an external clock to cycle through 4, 6, or 8 steps. The output of the sequencer can be used control the pitch of an oscillator, modulate a filter, or manipulate any module with a CV input.

TIme Runner

An analog clock divider and programmable pattern generator. It utilizes a voltage controlled dual logic core to create a wide range of programmable gate patterns. The TimeRunner starts with a single clock source and divides it down into four individual channels. The output of each channel is based on a complex relationship between the clock source, a clock divider, and a chain of switchable and voltage controlled logic options. The result is a unique and extremely musical patten generator.

Envelope Generator Modules

Pittsburgh ADSR

A four stage envelope generator with independently adjustable Attack, Decay, Sustain, and Release stages. This module does one thing amazingly well. The ADSR smooths the shape of the incoming gates and triggers to produce a more expressive instrument. The ADSR output can be used to control the amplitude of an oscillator, the cutoff frequency of a filter or any other function on a module that accepts control voltages.

Pittsburgh Envelope

A complex multi-stage slope generator with voltage controllable attack and decay/release. Using the sustain switch to toggle between modes, the Envelope functions as either a two stage attack-decay envelope or a three stage attack-sustain-release envelope.

VCA and Mixer Modules

Pittsburgh Dual VCA

The perfect voltage controlled amplifier for both audio and CV applications. Dual, high quality linear voltage controlled amplifiers with both offset gain, CV attenuation, and a mix out. Each VCA includes a CV attenuators and input pass through attenuator. The output of each VCA is sent to a fully buffered mix output that allows the Dual VCA to act as two channel voltage controlled mixer.

Pittsburgh mixer

A flexible, low-noise four channel mixer and/or attenuator for audio and cv that can be used in several ways.  Three of the four channels have an output that removes the channel from the mixer circuit and allows it to become a standalone attenuator.

PITTSBURGH MIxmult

The MixMult is a multifunction utility module. The module combines three important functions into a single module. A high quality three channel mixer and/or attenuator and two sets of passive multiples.

Modulation Modules

Pittsburgh Chain Reactor

The Chain Reactor combines two of our classic VILFO modules with two additional free running LFOs to create an endless supply of chaotic fluctuations. VILFO1 and VILFO2 feature our unique voltage influence control. Voltage influence works differently than standard voltage control, it allows the incoming CV to mingle with the LFO waveforms in interesting ways, creating unique modulations and patterns.

Pittsburgh LFO2

A utility dual LFO module.  The module uses two different types of low frequency oscillator circuits to provide a variety of modulation options.

Utility Modules

Pittsburgh Detect

Convert the dynamic fluctuations of an audio signal into control voltage. The Detect is a utility envelope follower module that generates gate and envelope signals based on the overall level of an incoming signal.

PITTSBURGH Multiple

A passive utility module with two independent sections of four linked jacks. Each section of the Multiple module splits an incoming signal into three copies. This allows one audio or CV signal to be sent to several destinations at once.

PITTSBURGH OUts

The best way to get sound out of a modular. Outs is a dual independent output module featuring a stereo 1/4" headphone amplifier output and dual mono 1/4" line level outputs.

PITTSBURGH inout

A two way communication line for audio between a modular the outside world. The InOut is divided into two sections, output and input. Perfect for use as a modular effects loop.

PITTSBURGH toolbox

A versatile module capable of performing 4 distinct jobs at once. Adjustable slew control, analog noise source, sample & hold, and signal inverter.

Effects Modules

Pittsburgh Analog replicator

Cleaner, dirtier, brighter, darker, and more versatile than any other analog BBD delay line effects unit available. The Analog Replicator is the astounding result of over a year of ambitious design and engineering.

Pittsburgh crush

An audio destroyer; a voltage controlled, all analog sound decimator. A sonic laser designed to shatter waveforms into a million pieces. The sound of the Crush module is defined by three parameters, Sample Rate, Interpolation, and Mix. Sample Rate assigns the periodic voltage sample timing, breaking down an audio source into ever-larger static chunks. The results are crushing.

pittsburgh phase shifter

A complex, 16 stage, analog effect module designed to expand on the classic swirls, rich swooshes, and doppler effects associated with the phaser. The largest number of analog stages, deep modulation options, built-in LFO, and inverting resonance add up to a very special sounding module.

PITTSBURGH Verbtronic

Reverb creates the illusion of space, adding another dimension to sound and offering a sense of time and distance. The Verbtronic digital reverb module generates spaces large enough to overwhelm sounds and smear the audio spectrum with a wash of relentless reflections and echoes, building a tidal wave of never-ending feedback.
