The Microvolt 3901 uses component level emulation based on the original hardware schematics to create a virtual recreation of the Microvolt and Eurorack modules. The original instruments have been meticulously modeled at a component level to match the warm sound and unique quirks of the original machines.

The Microvolt 3901 includes an assortment of fully patchable modulation modules from throughout the history of Pittsburgh Modular. The VILFO (our first Eurorack module), Dual LFO, Function Generator, Game System, Microvolt Modulation Sources, Three Stage Envelope, Envelope Generator, Modulation Oscillator, Sample & Hold, and Ring Modulator.

Keyboard Controller and 16 Step Sequencer

  • Architecture: Dual oscillator additive West Coast synthesizer voice with harmonically rich timbres.

  • Primary Core: Pitch tracking analog oscillator (sine, triangle, saw, square, combo) with phase reset and pitch envelope.

  • Timbral Shaping: Six stage analog wavefolder bends waveforms into weighty, dynamic tones.

  • Output Stage: Dynamic Low Pass Gate with VCA, resonant filter, and combo (LPG) modes create an array of organic and synthetic responses.

  • Modulation Core: Dedicated audio/LFO rate oscillator with pitch sweep, audio level control, phase reset, and six wave shapes (including noise and random voltage).

  • Routing & Modulation: Cross-modulation with the Percussion voice, external Aux 2 FM input, multi-mode sustain/decay envelope, and full per-step parameter locking.
